Q: I'm not a member of an Ontario sailing club and I want to race. What do I do?

For eligibility to race sailboats in Canada, sailors must be a member in good standing with a Sail Canada member yacht club or sailing club. This is to comply with the requirements of ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing RRS rules 46 and 75.1 which governs the right to race. In addition when you are a member of an OSA club and have your CANSail Number you can take advantage of a number of Ontario Sailing and Sail Canada benefits listed at OntarioSailing.ca.

In Ontario, you can join the Ontario Sailing Association directly by becoming a member of the Maple Leaf Fund, which was setup expressly to help sailors who want to race and are not members of clubs or are members of non-recognized clubs. The Maple Leaf Fund is part of the Ontario Sailing Association and therefore Sail Canada.  To join the Maple Leaf Fund, there are three steps to follow:
